Tim entered his fifth year with the team in Fall of 2024. He has enjoyed an outstanding tenure with URI winning Two ACRA National Titles, Two ACRA Points Trophies, Three Dad Vail Titles, multiple ACRA and Dad Vail Medals, Four NERC Titles, and over 100 individual boat podiums. He was also elected the 2024 ACRA Northeast COTY. Prior to URI he served as the Head Coach of the University of Richmond Crew Team, a position he held for four years. During his tenure, the team found significant success across the board while growing its roster by nearly 200%, including Finals in both Dad Vails and the ACRA National Championships. The team also medaled at many local regattas, state and regional races, and Championship events. He also founded Richmond’s adaptive rowing team who’s athletes were the first-ever collegiate PR1 rowers to compete in a collegiate rowing championship. Outside of coaching UR, Tim was the Executive Director of Richmond Community Rowing for four years and strived to impact the community through the sport of rowing. During his time, the program increased its fleet by over ten boats and expanded its impact serving over 100 athletes every year through eleven different programs. The program boasted one of the nation’s largest adaptive rowing programs and implemented the city’s first ever junior rowing program. Prior to coaching Richmond, Tim coached with the Virginia Commonwealth University Rowing team where he served as the Women’s Freshman Coach for two years. His women found resounding success with showings at the Head of the Charles and a fourth place finish at the ACRA National Championships. Tim is an alumni of VCU where he rowed all four years and served as the President of the team for three years. Tim is a USRowing level III certified coach and has his Masters of Nonprofit Studies and works with nonprofit organizations to make an impact in the community! tnesselrodt@uri.edu
